mourning pages
excerpts, epiphanies, and exciting news
this entry will be a short one. i mostly just want to say hello, thank you again for being a part of my journey as an artist, and share some more of my journey with the Artist’s Way. below are a few excerpts from my morning pages from the past week or so, photos of the newest new recipe that i’ve baked, and exciting news about an in-progress project that will be published here in January of next year. i hope you find all of these things as rousing as i do.
i’ll begin with a poem that i wrote this morning after my pages:
i stir cardamom,
cinnamon, nutmeg
into my coffee
pour it into
a special mug
conjure a memory
today grandma’s mug
grandma does
a heart good
take a sip
internal warmth
eternal warmth
i’m sat on
her living room floor
the couch
the spare room
in a rocking chair
you are my sunshine
my only sunshine
rings in my ears
rain falls outside
tears fall inside
you’ll never know,
dear, how much
i loved you
another sip
a smile follows
song on my lips
sunshine in my heart
not taken away
