for anyone tuned into my journey with the artist’s way, i’ve made it to week four. and along with the tasks and the morning pages and the artist’s date, i’ve also been prescribed a week of reading deprivation, which gives me a decent amount of extra free time and certainly frees up my mind a bit more. reading is something that i like to do on my day off. i’ll walk to my local park with a generous layer of spf applied and sit shirtless in the sun while reading for about an hour. i also read during the brief time that i’m waiting for and seated on the subway on my way to work. so what do i do with that extra time if not read?
so far, two days into the week, i’ve done an at-home workout (something i’ve not done in weeks or maybe months), sewn up a hole in one of my favorite old sweatshirts (something i’ve been meaning to do for months), planned out the bulk of my week’s plans (i am typically very bad at utilizing planners that i’ve bought), and now i’m here putting my homework into another post instead of feeling bad for not working on another Substack post. so, all in all, a few wins in just a couple of days.
at the end of this week, i and the folks i’m doing the artist’s way with will be a third of the way complete with the course. this may be the most committed to building a habit i’ve been since i used to go to the gym… six or seven years ago. so huge shoutout to my comrades sticking to this process with me. i look forward to seeing it through to the end and keeping up with my pages and artist’s dates past that.
